The Mola (is one of our indians art) of a donkey represents the name of our Estate "El Burro" (The Donkey).

EL BURRO ESTATE BEST OF PANAMA 2007

El Burro estate offers a fruity bright and generous sparkling acidity that will fill your mouth with an attractive basket of citrus fruit including lulo and tamarillo. The chocolate undertones, along with its big body, makes it a dynamic and balanced coffee. It will remind you of our Elida Estate.

El Burro was also a winner of a place in the Gran-Finale: In the Semi-Finals of the Best of Panama 2007 the El Burro qualified in third place among the non-geisha coffees (5th overall), in the Finals it qualified in fourth non-geisha coffees (6th overall). It did not go to the Gran-Finale because we in SCAP had previously agreed to not let any member (or family) have more than one coffee in the Gran-Finale to give opportunities to other rising star coffees. And the Lamastus Family had two Gran Finale qualifiers: Elida Estate and El Burro Estate. (The official place of El Burro in the BOP 07 was 9th). One never knows; in the Gran-Finale it could have come ahead of our Elida. Nevertheless, you will have the opportunity to cup both coffees together and decide for yourself.

Like our Elida. El Burro is grown at very high elevations, sun dried, grown in rich young volcanic soils, bird friendly, very low water use for processing the coffee, the trees are surrounded by the Volcan Baru National Park -a virgin-native cloudy rain forest-, the nights get cold here, these low temperatures also extend the ripening time 1 month longer (thereby the development of the bean). All these unique growing conditions show in a distinguished cup.
